American Pilgrim

Nov 21

In the name of blatant self-promotion, we wanted to let you know that Mayflower Brewing Company will be featured in a documentary called “American Pilgrm”, which will be aired on the Travel Channel this coming Monday, November 24 at 11PM — http://www.travelchannel.com/Weekly_TV_Schedule.  The show focuses on the history and legacy of the Pilgrims and highlights a number of descendants who are pursuing jobs similar to those done by their ancestors.  Given the importance of beer to the Pilgrims, our story fits perfectly — Taste the History!

Happy Thanksgiving, Drew

Hosts With The Mosts

Nov 21

Last week, we had a busy couple of days hosting folks at the brewery.  On Thursday, we hosted the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce for their monthly After Hours get together.  Attendance was great, and we appreciate having the opporutnity to show off the brewery to the local business community.

On Friday, we played host to the New England chapter of the Master Brewers Association of Americas.  The group, which included about 75 brewers from the leading breweries throughout New England, held their fall meeting in our facility.  Lots of great discussion, food and beer was had by all!

Our New Tanks Are Standing

Nov 11

We were thrilled to get our new fermenters and bright beer tank last week.  They double our fermentation and packaging capacity and will help us meet our aggressive growth plans for next year.  After a minor hiccup in unloading (they are too big to pass through the doorway between our warehouses!), we stood them up and moved them into place this week.  Now we just need to hook up that glycol and get em filled!

Great International Beer Festival Awards!!!

Nov 11

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – November 10, 2008
Contact: Competition Director: Gregg Glaser, 203-834-0800, gregg-glaser@yankeebrew.com

Festivals of America: Maury Ryan, 401-272-0980, mryan@beerfestamerica.com

The 12th Annual Great International Beer Competition was held on Friday, November 7, 2007, in Providence, Rhode Island, one day before the 15th Annual Great International Beer Festival. Festivals of America produced both events. New England beer newspaper Yankee Brew News was the media sponsor of the competition.

One hundred eighty-seven beers from 39 breweries representing 10 states entered the competition. Forty-five professional brewers and beer industry journalists acted as judges in a blind tasting format. First, second and third place awards were presented in 17 categories of ales and lagers. The judges knew only the style and subcategory of each beer.

Since the competition began in 1997, over 1,800 beers have been judged. The awards were presented during the afternoon session of the beer festival, announced by Yankee Brew News editor Gregg Glaser. On the floor of the festival, held at the Rhode Island Convention Center, 7,500 beer lovers were able to sample over 250 beers from approximately 100 breweries.

The 13th Annual Great International Beer Competition and the 16th Annual Great International Beer Festival will take place on November 13-14, 2009, in Providence. In addition, a spring beer festival will take place on May 2, 2009, in Providence. Details are available at www.beerfestamerica.com.

We are very proud to be honored by the esteemed beer judges and fellow brewers at the competition this year.  For a new brewery like us, it is truly remarkable to be recognized and have our beers to be received so well.  Thanks so much to Gregg and Maury for putting on such a great event.
We were awarded for our Pale Ale and Porter.  This makes two medals for the Porter, which received a Silver Medal at Great British Beer Festival held earlier this year.  The following lists represent our categories and the other winners.  Congrats to all the breweries.

ENGLISH PALE ALE/BITTER
1) Samuel Adams Pale Ale, Boston Beer Co., Boston, MA
2) Whistling Pig Red Ale, Jasper Murdock’s Alehouse/Norwich Inn, Norwich, VT
3) Mayflower Pale Ale, Mayflower Brewing, Plymouth, MA

PORTER
